Sprout Midge Emerger

The faithful midge insect, its imitations are the go to for a lot fly fisherman, especially in the dead of winter. This pattern is designed to be an emerging midge, and should be used when fish are seen "sipping” the surface of the water. Designed with a foam post to help keep this pattern in the subsurface. The white post also makes it much easier to see this pattern when lighting conditions are not as favorable. Fish in the subsurface, apply floatant and fish as a dry, fish a dropper, or when the terrestrials are out fish in tandem with a big foam fly (one of our favorite ways to fish small dries).
