A widespread mayfly hatch. These insects can emerge from March through September in many locations. Callibaetis can emerge in various colors, from tan to olive to dark grey. Our local Oregon Callibaetis are often a dark slate color, and this pattern closely matches. Prevalent mostly in lakes, they can hatch in rivers too. This pattern also works well for Slate Drake Duns. Dark grey body, grizzly hackle, this bug fishes well on lakes and rivers.
