Fast Water Drake - Umpqua

"I’ve been using this pattern for 10 years or more. On the Deschutes we have a hatch of green drakes that hatch on the fastest rapids you can find, almost class 2 rapids where these things will pop up and hatch. A lot of the classic green drake patterns that are out there that are designed for other rivers, especially slower rivers, don’t really work on the Deschutes because they just don’t float very well. So I tried to come up with a fly that floated really well but still looked like a green drake without getting too big or too crazy." - Signature Tyer Brian Silvey
